Apartment in Venice

My husband and I stayed here with our three teenage sons in September 2014. Yes, as Umberto apologetically explained, the apartment is small but it is well-equipped, in a good, quiet location, reasonably priced, safe and easily accessible, being on the ground floor (un-Venetian, but tourists tire of stairs quickly). Most mornings there is a fresh fish market near the entrance to the calle (literally 30 seconds from the door), and a fruit and vegetable market is also quite close. Across the canal from the calle entry there is a walled park that is a cat sanctuary, this for us was a lovely, hidden piece of Venetian life and many locals brought leftovers to feed the cats. We appreciated that generally the location around the apartment is not overly touristy. From the front entry to the apartment, turn left and within a few steps you will find yourself at a bakery which makes the most delicious meringues, Mantovani rolls and many other delights (including kitchen staples). As this is a shop that serves mainly locals, it is not over-priced. Passing the shop will take you into the Jewish area which is well worth visiting and again, not over run with tourists. We would be happy to stay here again on our next visit to Venezia.
